Von Wolfe

Wolfe von Lenkiewicz (b. 1966, Dartmoor, England) studied philosophy at the University of York before establishing himself as one of Britain’s leading appropriation painters, known for reconfiguring imagery from art history and popular culture. He lives and works in London.

Under the name Von Wolfe, his recent body of work pairs AI diffusion models — used to recombine fragments of visual culture into new compositions — with Northern Renaissance oil-painting technique, including grisaille underpainting and translucent glazing. He calls the result “Latent Realism”: a reality that looks identical to our own until something within it is revealed to have quietly shifted.

His work has been exhibited at Tate Britain and the Saatchi Gallery (London), the Musée du Quai Branly (Paris), the Ateneum Art Museum (Helsinki), the Nationalmuseum (Stockholm), and the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts (Taiwan), among other institutions.

He is currently presenting a solo exhibition, “Familiars,” at Richard Heller Gallery, Santa Monica, from 12 September to 24 October 2026.
