Organized by the Àkéte Art Foundation, the Lagos Biennial has grown since its 2017 founding into one of the most closely watched recurring exhibitions on the continent. Its 2026 edition centers artworks rarely or never publicly shown, alongside the political and philosophical forces that shape what museums choose to collect, circulate, and display.
