Calida Rawles: Parallax at Lehmann Maupin, New York — 15 Oct–14 Nov 2026

Lehmann Maupin’s Chelsea gallery presents Parallax, a new body of paintings by Calida Rawles, the artist known for combining hyperrealism with poetic abstraction in images of Black figures immersed in water. At the centre of the show are three paintings based on photographs of her youngest daughter in a pool, taken seconds apart as Rawles moved around her — the same moment seen from different positions, each resolved into a distinct composition and scale.
