Guido Casaretto: The Sea Peoples at SANATORIUM, Istanbul — 5 Nov–27 Dec 2026
SANATORIUM presents The Sea Peoples, a solo exhibition by Istanbul-based artist Guido Casaretto, curated by Domenico de Chirico. The show examines how geographic and cultural identities are represented — and how customs, everyday objects and craft techniques drift from their origins as they are copied, imitated and transported. Three bodies of work anchor it: A Few Came Back from Melbourne, drawn from the stories of Levantine emigrants to Australia; Marmaro 2, on real stone and the painted imitation marble of stucco craftsmen; and Your Well Traveled Uncle 2, on East Asian decorative patterns standardised by Western factories and colonial trade.
