Miguel Ángel Elices: Colorcentrismo III at Galería Orfila, Madrid — 28 Oct–21 Nov 2026
Galería Orfila presents Colorcentrismo III (Colour-centrism III), the third chapter of a body of work by Spanish painter Miguel Ángel Elices (born 1950, Valladolid; self-taught). Elices coined the term “colorcentrismo” for painting in which colour is not a tool but the true subject of the picture. His method is intuitive and sequential: each colour suggests the next, and tones are mixed, graded and set against each other until a harmony emerges that was not planned at the start. He places the idea in a lineage running from Impressionism and Fauvism through Orphism to Pop Art. The exhibition brings together eight untitled oils on canvas in a geometric, colourist vocabulary — medium formats of about 92 x 73 cm and small 40 x 40 cm squares.
