Wendy Red Star: False Stars at Roberts Projects, Los Angeles — 7 Nov–19 Dec 2026
Roberts Projects presents “False Stars”, a solo exhibition by Apsáalooke (Crow) artist Wendy Red Star. The show puts the Star Quilt — a form of deep significance in Plains communities — through a series of material transformations. Corner installations use mounds of coloured earth pigment and mirrors set at ninety degrees to complete a partial star; freestanding mirror sculptures do the same with thousands of acrylic beads; and works on paper assemble stars from folded, watercolour-soaked Japanese Sumi paper on gouache-painted Rives BFK. The title refers to a star formation that people mistake for a complete star.
