Each tour keeps the original painting one tap away, so you can always compare the immersive scene with the artwork as it was painted.

Oil painting of village women in white headscarves gathering at a well on a golden plain, with a herd of goats in the foreground

Inside the Painting — Fikret Otyam

An immersive 360° walk into an oil painting by Fikret Otyam (1926–2015), signed and dated ’98: headscarved village women gathering at a well on a golden plain, with goats at their feet. Stand at the well, turn toward the distant pair crossing the field and the village on the horizon, and listen to goats, bells, water and wind placed around you.

About the artist: Fikret Otyam was a Turkish painter, photographer, journalist and writer born in Aksaray. A student of Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts, he spent decades reporting from Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia, publishing books such as Topraksızlar and Harran ve Irıp. Headscarved Anatolian women with kohl-lined eyes and herds of goats are the recurring figures of his paintings. Read the full article on Fikret Otyam and this painting →
