Hamdi Eser: Gecekonduda Kış at Galeri Soyut, Ankara — 30 Oct–11 Nov 2026

Hamdi Eser, Gecekonduda Kış — oil painting of a snowy gecekondu neighbourhood, Galeri Soyut, Ankara, 2026

Galeri Soyut presents Gecekonduda Kış (Winter in the Gecekondu), a solo exhibition of oil paintings by Ankara painter and art teacher Hamdi Eser in Hall B of its Yıldızevler space in Çankaya. Thirty-two untitled canvases made between 2024 and 2026 show the informal gecekondu neighbourhoods on the edge of Ankara in winter — snowy hillsides, winding roads, minibuses and taxis on wet asphalt, smoking chimneys — as a way of life marked by hardship, endurance and solidarity rather than as a picturesque scene.
