Thomas Ruff, Porträt (A. Kachold), 1987 – Thomas Ruff: In Series, 1979–2024, David Zwirner, Los Angeles, 2026

David Zwirner Los Angeles presents Thomas Ruff: In Series, 1979–2024, the German photographer’s first major presentation in Los Angeles and his first solo show in the city in more than a decade. The survey brings together 11 series spanning more than four decades — from the early Interieurs and the large-format Porträts to Häuser, Sterne, nudes, Substrat, jpegs, Fotogramme, Negative, flower.s and the recent expériences lumineuses — tracing Ruff’s passage from analogue to digital photography and his long inquiry into how photographs make, and question, reality.
