Wang Yancheng: Impact at Galerie Lelong, Paris — 26 Nov–23 Dec 2026
Galerie Lelong presents Impact, the second solo exhibition at the gallery of Paris-based painter Wang Yancheng, born in 1960 in Guangdong province, China, and shaped early on by the guidance of Zao Wou-Ki and Chu Teh-Chun. The exhibition text centres on two series made on very thick watercolour paper, each sheet 77 x 57 cm: Impact (2025) and its counterpart Contrecoup (2026). The gallery argues that his painting, often loosely labelled lyrical abstraction, now opens onto more cosmic tensions, linking it to the idea of “chaosmos” — order and chaos held together — coined by James Joyce and taken up by Gilles Deleuze. Large untitled oil paintings from 2025 are also listed among the works on the exhibition page. The show follows exhibitions at the Galleria dell’Accademia in Florence and the National Museum in Tokyo in 2025.
