Yoshitomo Nara at David Zwirner, New York — 5 Nov–12 Dec 2026

Yoshitomo Nara in his studio, 2026, ahead of his solo exhibition at David Zwirner, New York

David Zwirner presents its first exhibition with Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara (b. 1959), described by the gallery as his first major solo exhibition in New York in nearly a decade. Spread across the 19th and 20th Street galleries in Chelsea, the show pairs new 2026 paintings and drawings — front-facing portraits in a softer, more muted palette, colored-pencil works built up with translucent acrylic washes, and large paint-stick drawings — with thirteen white sculptural heads from 2024 and a selection of early 1980s works chosen by the artist.
