Louise Solecki Weir

Louise’s artistic journey commenced with her initial training in Fine Arts at Vancouver Community College. She furthered her artistic exploration through a program with the University of Georgia in Italy, eventually attaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from York University in Toronto. Her commitment to the field led her to earn accreditation as an art therapist from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute. She has expanded her artistic horizons by undertaking classes in sculpture across England, Italy, and the United States, with a notable focus on forensic reconstruction under the guidance of Karen T. Taylor.

Currently, Louise is dedicated to her personal artistic practice and the creation of commissioned pieces. Noteworthy among her creations are a bronze portrait bust and a statue of Pope John Paul II, both on prominent display at the John Paul II Papal Centre in Vancouver. Her work also graces the collections of private individuals in Canada, the United States, England, and Australia.

A passionate educator, Louise imparts the art of clay sculpting, encompassing both expressive and classical styles, to individuals of all ages. She conducts workshops from her studio and as a guest artist in classrooms and community centers.

Within the Sculptors’ Society of BC, Louise has played pivotal roles, including secretary, treasurer, and vice president, showcasing her unwavering commitment to sculpting and its community.
