BIOGRAPHY
Loumi Le Floc’h is a French artist, designer, and materials researcher. Raised in southwest France amid lush, dense nature, she grew up attentive to the textures of the living world and to the poetry of how materials transform. She trained at the École nationale supérieure des arts visuels de La Cambre in Brussels, then at the Weissensee Kunsthochschule in Berlin. She is now based at Ateliers Zaventem, a laboratory near Brussels where designers from strikingly different specializations work alongside one another.

PRECIOUS PEELS
Her sole, ongoing research subject is Precious Peels, in which discarded eggplant (aubergine) skins are transformed into translucent, jewel-toned surfaces — somewhere between the delicacy of paper and the suppleness of fabric, evoking organic stained glass. Through a subtly controlled chemical process, she draws deep tonal ranges out of the skins, from bright reds to velvety browns to deep blues, as if light itself were dancing across the surface. The resulting material can be set between two panes of glass for one-of-a-kind glazing, used as a wall covering, or shaped into architectural panels, sliding doors, lighting, and custom objects.

EXHIBITIONS & REPRESENTATION
Her work has traveled to venues dedicated to design and material culture, including Paris Design Week, Maison & Objet Paris, and Collectible in Brussels. She continues her research at Ateliers Zaventem and is introduced by ADÈLE Collections in Paris.
